What I’ve Been Working on Lately

Baby Montague 12 weeks

My little one at 12 weeks.

I haven’t done any writing since I’ve been busy working on this little one. It has been a very long road full of shots and specialists and eight years to get to this point, so I’m being completely careful with baby and staying as healthy and stress-free as I can. My husband and I are so thrilled about baby that all our spare time has gone to preparing. And, if you’ve ever gone through constant nausea, total exhaustion, and round ligament pain, then you know just how very little “spare time” exists for me. Not to mention, the demands of being a full-time high school English teacher are significantly greater this year than ever with our shift to nationwide common core standards, but that’s a whole other ball of sticky, difficult wax.

So, I wish I had better news on the book release front, but other than doing some thinking about Uncontained: Setenid Blight Book Three and how I can fix the pacing, I haven’t done a thing related to writing. You know I’m obsessed with my characters as much as you are and they will get written, just for now, my priorities have to be elsewhere. Thank you all for being awesome fans and wish me luck as I venture into mommyhood.

Coming October 19… Accidental Texting: Finding Love despite the Spotlight

I’m excited to finally release this novel into the big world of romance readers. I love Sean and Morgan and hope that everyone enjoys their whirlwind romance as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Looking for a few good beta-readers

Hey everyone! I have a new book ready. Sorry, it’s not the next Setenid Blight (I’m still working through some pacing issues I’m not happy with), but it is a project I’ve been playing with for several months. It’s an adult contemporary romance called Fitting Together: A Story of Love in the Spotlight. The description is below. If you’re interested, please use the ole “contact me” thingie ma bobber in the upper right and let me know the following:

  • Have you beta-read before?
  • Can  you give solid feedback on questions about pacing (where you skimmed and when you were less interested), plausibility (where did you roll your eyes over the fact that this would never happen), and characterization (did you like the characters? did you feel they grew?)?
  • Do you have the time to read 160,000 words in the next two weeks?
  • Do you typically read adult contemporary romance?

Thanks everyone for all the support =)

Fitting Together: A Story of Love in the Spotlight

Morgan Edwards has been through a lot: being left at the altar by a man trying to use her, losing her mother to Cancer, and trying to keep her mom’s dream alive by running the Victorian inn they spent years restoring together. Her world is such a mess that she has no time for distractions. But when it feels like things are hopeless, an accidental text message manages to pull her out of this pit of despair and infuse a little excitement into her life.

Sean Wilder has it all: fame, fortune, and a very long list of ladies who’ve been more than happy to share his bed. But what he finds in the girl he accidentally texts is entirely unexpected. Too accustomed to a world where everyone has an ulterior motive, he’s taken aback by Morgan’s honesty, her sincerity, and her struggle to do everything on her own despite the incredibly tough spot she’s in.

Similar life experiences draw them to one another, but can they fit together when Morgan finds out Sean’s true identity? And can she find a way to fit next to him in the spotlight?

Miami, Maryland, now CA… Possible Setenid Blight in Real-Life News

The latest in possible Setenid Blight outbreak news comes to use from the wonderful Tyra over at Book Snobs who shared a frightening article about a man in CA. It seems Jarrod Wyatt of Crescent City, CA decided it was a good idea to cut out his friend’s heart and tongue as well as a few other major organs while his buddy was still alive. He was found naked and covered in blood saying, “I killed him.”

I know what you’re thinking, though. Violence, death, removal of organs–these things happen all the time. How is this related to the Setenid Blight, Kimberly? Well, it comes to down to a pesky little reference to mushrooms.

Witnesses say the two had ingested hallucinogenic mushrooms before the attack and believed they were involved in a struggle between God and the devil.

If you’ve read Altered, you know this hits a little too close to home. So beware, be on the lookout for flu-like symptoms, and above all else, stay away from anyone exhibiting sudden, overly aggressive behavior. Good luck to us all.

Awesome Review for Manipulated and Divided!

Check out the wonderful things Kelly over at Reading the Paranormal had to say about Manipulated and Divided!

I can’t lie to you: I am IN LOVE with this series.

This isn’t a series about an outbreak with a little romance. It’s about romance that happens to blossom right before an outbreak happens. These characters are given something to live for and they fight for it. They aren’t willing to give in and let a pesky little zombification infection slow them down.

It’s chilling and heartbreaking and I loved every second of it. I am just… smitten by everything Kimberly Montague has thrown at us so far. I want to know about ALL the different outbreaks now.

What Lurks in Caves… New Discoveries

I stumbled upon an interesting article about a new spider that has been found in the caves of Southern Oregon. It has hooked legs and is the first newly discovered North American spider found since 1890. While spiders may not be of particular interest to you, I had to post about it to reinforce the fact that…

WE STILL DON’T KNOW EVERYTHING LURKING IN OUR CAVES.

The Setenid Blight could be the next discovery.

An Amazing Blog about the Setenid Blight Series from Book Snobs

If you’ve stumbled upon my page or you have read my other books and aren’t quite sure about whether you’d like to try the Setenid Blight Series, Tyra of Book Snobs gives an excellent breakdown that offers you a solid glimpse into the series. She also succeeded in leaving me completely speechless over her incredibly flattering appraisal. Thanks so much, Tyra.

Not your typical YA paranormal romance! The Setenid Blight books are a tale of almost too real apocalyptic proportions.

This story literally gives me chills as the insanely talented author, Kimberly Montague lays it all out in a way that you can REALLY picture it all happening to a town near you, to a friend, to YOU!

Awesome Review for Divided from Addicted to Words

Thank you so much to Ginifer Bryant over at the awesome blog Addicted to Words for the amazing review of Divided. I’m so unbelievably flattered at the wonderful things she had to say about Divided.

The romance. Oh man, the romance between Dev and Evie is to die for! They feel so strongly for one another, and would do anything for each other. *sighs* They have one of the best love stories I’ve ever read. It’s like sparks are flying off the pages with these two!

The development of this story is executed excellently. The heroine is a tough chick, but she’s also scared and apprehensive. Evie is just so human, I can’t NOT love her. I recommend this series to anyone who likes a bit of horror mixed in with their romance.

Setenid Blight Spreads Again Aug. 19!!

That’s right, Manipulated: A Setenid Blight Novel can be in your hands on August 19th! I’m so excited for all of you to meet Brodie and Risa.

Setenid Blight series

While this is set within the Setenid Blight world, it can be read as a stand-alone novel since no prior knowledge is required to enjoy it.

Two months ago, high school senior, Risa Neely had it all going for her: good friends, a good education, and a supportive mother. But all that changed the night her stepfather attacked her. When her friends and even her own mother believe her stepfather’s twisted lies, she has no other alternative but to turn to her absentee father.

Just when she thinks she’s been able to move on and carve out a very safe, albeit lonely existence, bad-boy Brodie Decker, the school’s hottest man-whore, literally knocks her off her feet. Drawn to the way she’s completely unimpressed by him, Brodie knows she hides herself behind a mask and is determined to get underneath it. But he’s blindsided by the connection they feel for each other.

Can Brodie accept Risa as a permanent fixture in his life? Can Risa trust Brodie enough to tell him her awful secrets? And will their connection be enough to hold them together when their friends, family members, and entire city are pulled under a deadly Setenid Blight quarantine?
